Gosh I would love to go there one day
So if you're a foreigner you can't buy a local ticket? How do they know you're the foreigner? Do they check the passport at the ticket booth or in the train?
If your Malaysian. And have a Malaysian passport. U can go to 179 countries visa free! And others need visa and you can go to all countries except for Israel and North Korea
What a great video ! The Talgo stock is excellent, and I’m looking forward to the new Talgo stock for D.B !
Looks like what they've bought in is fine, but they need to work on the Egyptian supplied things – the tracks, the food and the entertainment.
A couple of other African trains that you may want to look into for future videos are the chinese built Mombasa–Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway in Kenya, The Al-Boraq bullet train in Morroco, The Gautrain from Pretoria to Johannesburg in South Africa, and the Train Express Regional Dakar-AIBD in Senegal
Great trip. Wait, Foreigners Tickets? Something rare to see like this. But anyway both station looks outstanding, keeping the classical Architecture. And yeah great car, seating, food, but sadly limited entertainment.
Is it possible to travel by train to El Alamein from Cairo?
those diesel locomotives are❤❤
This video looks far better than ur last one 🤣 Egyptian railway looks good
Nice music and scenes of Alexandria at the end! Four times the price does seem too much, however the final foreigner price of 30 USD is very reasonable for first class.
Really excellent video, and I do see this happening for the Egyptian Railways a modernization. Perhaps there can be a Talgo Carriages fit for UK Loading gauge like the class 66 locomotive
Plus, it would nice to see some "matching" motive power.
I can’t imagine Amtrak in the U.S. charging such fees to foreigners
The Talgo in Spain runs very smoothly and faster…Most likely has to do with the engines being electric and the higher speed…They have Talgos in the USA but those are huge and heavy…They built them as per requested by the USA…Nothing like the European one…
I'd imagine they came up with the "foreigner" pricing after they realised they would need to charge European-level fares to recuperate the cost of their new European-level trains.
Thank you, so far I have only seen pictures of the delivery. Nice that the trains are now in regular service.
I guess people are expected to bring their own devices for entertainment nowadays so a charging plug is considered sufficient …
As could be seen around 4:33 the end cars have a higher seating section and probably end bogies like the ICE L under construction for Germany and Denmark (no cab car though).
The bumpy ride is probably due to the existing jointed track, despite improvements in suspension the joints are still felt more directly in a Talgo than in a coach with bogies.
I heard that Egyptian railways also ordered night Talgos with sleeping compartments. Once they are in service it would be great to see a review as well.
Egyptian railways are also electrifying and ordered a variant of the Vectron locomotive so in future the same trains might be running under electric power.
5:20 "Avoid this seat": Somehow Talgo managed to avoid wall seats in the ICE L so it's disappointing they didn't manage here …
Regarding the Class 66 and Talgo cars, could it have anything to do with limited profile? Although the train appeared to be running through "countryside" (forgetting for a moment that this is a densely populated area) for a lot of the trip, and there were obviously no tunnels.
From what I hear, Talgo cars have a tendency to be bumpy, exactly because they are so light and only have a single axle between two cars. So unless you have silky smooth tracks, this is something that is likely to happen.
Finally, Egypt itself. From an Egyptian friend who said things like "I'm never going back there" and "it's only got worse since the revolution" (the Arab Spring), my impression is that while the people may be friendly, the country itself isn't. And the extortionate surcharge is just a bad idea. If I wanted to spend a lot of money, I'd go to Switzerland or Scandinavia.
A pity, because they already had thousands of years of civilisation when we in Europe were still worshipping trees.
Not a bad looking product at all. I wonder what equipment they used before purchasing from Talgo?
Stunning station. Is it a case of overcharging tourists or subsidising the locals to promote rail travel? For a first class trip it's not that expensive. Talgo's are usually lively runners anyway IIRC? Hope you enjoyed your carb fest of a meal… 😂
when the Pharao rides a train, its NONSTOP EUROTRIP
4 Euros is a good price for train food
It's really way too much 450%, they really want to take advantage; beautiful ride though!
I understand about the tourist price, but you didn't see it? Egyptians struggling for money, so they should get a lower price
Why should we pay the local price?
So technically WE took their advantage, not they took ours?
so they decide to make it fair
Indian Railways experimented with these talgo coaches too . These coaches were sent by Spain for testing in India as they can run on both standard as well as broad gauge. But india rejected them due to capacity (2X 2 configuration) , short height (which didn’t match the platform height) and price of the train set …. Then it decided to launch Vande Bharat project …
I have been four times in Egypt and made several train travels, – eg Kairo – Alexandria twice, Kairo – Luxor twice, Kairo – Assuan Nighttrain twice. My first trip in that country was more than 40 years in very old GANZ sleeping coaches from Hungary……..you have to love that country and its railways!!!😅
Look, I live somewhere where tourist fares are a thing, but last time I went to a national park it was no more than 150% for foreigners and 50% for non-local nationals (after an ID check). 450% is far too much.
Strange mix of modernity and antiquity-hand written tickets for a high tech train? 😂 I wouldn't mind paying $30 for that comfortable ride. A 2.5 hour train ride in the U.S. costs far more and food is not usually served nor do the seats have screens. I think the price is appropriate but they should have digital ticket machines.
Ты хоть когда нибудь был в России???
Love you ❤️❤️ BRO 😘😘❣️🤗
I never understand why trains in UK don't have bins on the seats/tables? It seems like a common thing on most trains in Europe / European-built trains, and surely this would encourage people to clean up after they've eaten? Just a thought…
Only 110 I’m/h? I wouldn’t believe that’s a Talgo train at that speed! Hope they couple them trains with a faster locomotive and smoother tracks
It's not a surcharge, it's the relative value of money.
Wann machen Sie den metronom
14:40 Talgo has NO axles! 🙂
Yes, many people get that wrong. The wheels between coaches are independently running one from another, not connected.
