The world heritage listed Shikinaen Royal Gardens located in Naha Okinawa Japan are a must see for tourist to the island.

Originally built as a second residence for the kings of Ryukyu in the 1800’s the gardens feature a simple yet beautiful wooden palace with a Japanese style pond. A 300m walking path takes you around the grounds.

The site was completely destroyed in the battle of Okinawa 1945 but completely rebuilt and officially listed as a world heritage site in 2000.

Open all year except on Wednesday’s the gardens are accessible by bus car or Taxi and cost 400yen to enter.
