Japan is the land of CONVENIENCE, TECHNOLOGY and EFFICIENCY — and nothing is more convenient, technologically advanced, or efficient than its VENDING MACHINES.

Simply put, Japan is winning the global vending machine game with almost 1 machine per every 30 people. And believe it or not, annual sales from vending machines in Japan exceed $40 Billion USD per year! FORTY BILLION U.S. DOLLARS A YEAR, that is insane!

In this video, I hit the streets of Tokyo and Okinawa to uncover WHY and HOW the vending machine culture in Japan got so big, and so efficient. And stay tuned to see some of the wacky items that I was able to get (including beetles, strange foods and accessories).

  1. I've been living in Tokyo for 8 years and went back to Boston for a trip recently. The lack of vending machines was very.. inconvenient.

  2. Enjoyed the video.Japan can be termed as a nation of vending machines among other advanced technologies.

  3. 100th like.Japan is ahead in comfort and efficiency, but must be careful of sugar, whatever country it might be.

  5. The number one complaint of Japan from Japanese people themselves is the work culture. They work long hours and the suicide rate is very high because of it, often ranking top in the world. Now that so much is getting automated there, I hope they can redistribute the workload and become less stressed with less work hours.

  6. This was so interesting! Japan is just amazing and this was a great showing of their uniqueness 🇯🇵

  7. Believe me, there are even (stranger / better?) vending machines than the ones you showed 😉

  8. In America there would be vending machines yet they would be broken, un stocked and take your money without a refund and the owner would not care and no one at City Hall or the government would help you..

  9. The split-second clip on 0:02 is from the Robot Restaurant which sadly is a casualty of covid lockdowns and is now closed. Oh and the hot corn soup I thought was decent, but will not be having it again.

  10. really cool but also, striving for efficiency and convenience has some disastrous effects on the mental health of a nation. increased anxiety and sense of low self esteem for not being 'productive' enough
