Japan Van Life Ch 21 – crabfest along the Sea of Japan
After 2 months of vanlife, we’ve made it to the Sea of Japan and that calls for a celebration of the crustacean kind! We’re heading to かにや横丁 (“Kaniya Yokocho”) to indulge ourselves at their famous crab stalls with the freshest catches of the day straight from the fishing boats.
We learned to haggle for a bargain in Japanese, ate more crab than we’d ever seen in our life, and paid a visit to the beautiful lover’s lighthouse just down the road to pray for a lifetime of love, laughter, and happiness (and maybe a beer or two). Come with us for a truly crabtacular day out!

Who or what is OshareJapan?
Hi! We’re Kiwi 🇬🇧 and Bear 🇯🇵, collectively known as OshareJapan. おしゃれ (o-sha-re) is a Japanese term for anything trendy, stylish or cool. OshareJapan = cool Japan! We are an international married couple based in Japan (funnily enough) in our secondhand van, which we converted into a mini home to travel freely around Japan to show you what it has to offer. If you like what you see, don’t forget to subscribe to keep up with our adventures! ❤️

Now that is value for money and a small feast.
I so love the michi no eki concept! We have blue swimmer crabs in my area (not quite the season yet) but I have to get someone else to do the cooking for me
The culinary parts of yr travels are some of the best content you guys produce. Have you thought of doing kitchen invasions? – ie asking yhe chefs to be filmed pepping yhe meals?
I love England for a lot of stuff (I even was born there…) but food is not one of them. That's why I can understand how someone who grew up in "Stargazey Pie" and "Jellied Eels" country could have apprehensions and visions of horror even about something as good as crabs.
Wow, that was a bargain and a real feast. Did you keep the shells so you could boil them to get a broth? or were you sick of crab by the end.
Crab legs are about $30 per pound in the US. I'm not sure how many pounds you two got, but it was a lot. Kiwi's crab walk made me laugh.
Yum, yum! Beautiful ocean background and delicious crah feast.. Good combination. 👍

Thanks for sharing all these great places with us!
Holy fuzz that's really cheap for that much crab! Eating crab can be hard work but well worth it! OMG I'm getting hungry now~
I’m so envious!!! Looks like you both had a great time!! Thank you for all the videos, I really enjoy them☺️ You two take care of each other and stay well & safe🥰
Those crabs look good.
Oh man I'm so jealous of that crab. It's so expensive here in NZ so I can't eat it =( You wouldn't think so since we live on islands like Japan but sadly it is =(
Congrats on making it to 5K subscribers. We subbed under multiple Gmails, wonder if Google takes this into account on the final tally :-))
My short time in Japan and suddenly really enjoy Salmon, so totally look forward to see what else I will enjoy over time. Also, I dont know why but I was like what about the seagulls but none attacked you. I love your adventures, you should do a typical day in the van vlog for us all <3
HUMMMMMMM ,NICE VIDEO
Watching this has manifested crabs into my life. My mother in law just called and said they bought too many and want to share 🤣🤣
I miss Japanese crab so much!!! will be going home soon, will get crab!
Omg it's as big as it is in animal crossing!!!!<3
