Here’s part two to round off the day in Tokyo Japan and a bit shorter. Our first spot that I visited was Kobe Beef Food located in Ginza which as you might assume serve menu items with Kobe beef! Those key words sounded delightful to my ears when I saw those words and decided to try out their menu. They have a few cheap options such as the Kobe Beef croquette for only 180 yen! This fried delicious morsel was perfect since the weather was pretty cold out however, I do have to say that I was a bit disappointed. I thought that my croquette would look like the replica outside however the there was only a little bit of meat and filling.
In Ginza there is a Don Quijote store that I’ll be visiting to see if they have a better selection of suitcases. I didn’t realize how many snacks that I actually wanted to bring back home so I decided to look for a suitcase to store them in. If you are wondering where you can get some Japanese kitkats, Don Quijote has a really good selection kitkats and snacks. It’s a fairly popular discount store that has tons goods (basically a one stop shop) that has everything from electronics, food, clothes, jewelry, alcohol, and more!
As we head back to Asakusa, I went inside of Life Supermarket which is one of the bigger grocery store chains here in Japan. This place has a good selection of produce, baked goods, meats, and also sashimi! Due to it being later in the evening, the sashimi was 30% off. I’m assuming that they get rid of the sashimi if it doesn’t sell by the end of the day. Luckily for me I’m really indecisive and as I was taking my sweet time deciding a staff member came out and discounted it even further. From the looks of it since it didn’t have a % and it was close to closing time, I think it was the final markdown. I was able to get this sashimi feast for less than $15 USD. The supermarket sushi was pretty good for its price and I could see myself buying this from time to time if I lived here or if I was on a budget. This won’t be as good as getting sashimi from a restaurant or in Tsukiji, but it was better than eating at many sushi places in the U.S. where I’m from. I would have to say though is that salmon isn’t as good in Tokyo as it is in the U.S., so I would focus on getting platters with tuna, yellowtail, or other seafood.
