Exploring Samurai Castle Ruins ⚔️
For centuries, what is now known as Fukui Prefecture represented the height of cultural refinement and technological prowess…
But did you know the place was once home to its fair share of valiant samurai warriors, too?
Located in a gorgeous valley right on the outskirts of Fukui City stand the Ichijodani Asakura Clan Ruins 🏯
There, visitors can stroll around the partially restored castle town,
the region’s cultural, military, and commercial center throughout the ‘sengoku’ Warring States period of Japanese history ― a time of civil war and political intrigue that lasted for about a century from the end of the 1400s
And on October 1st, 2022, a whole new chapter of this incredible part of Japanese and world history began:
The Ichijodani Asakura Family Site Museum opened its doors to the public ✨
