Oshino Hakkai- 8 Sacred clear springwater Pondsin the Fuji Five Lakes Region

Oshino Hakkai is a touristy small village located close to Fujisan Museum and Lake Yamanaka in Yamanashi Prefecture, in the southeast of Kawaguchiko Lake. The place is blessed with eight ponds formed by Mt. Fuji’s subsoil water from the snowmelt that comes down over several decades, making the water extremely clear, according to the Yamanashi Tourism Organization. Furthermore, Oshino Hakkai was recognized as UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site as part of Mt. Fuji in 2013.

The eight ponds are Deguchiike Pond, Okamaike Pond, Sokonashiike Pond, Choshiike Pond, Wakuike Pond, Nigoriike Pond, Kagamiike Pond, and Shobuike Pond
