Japanese Festivals – Hamamatsu Kite Festival
Each year in the city of Hamamatsu City they have a kite (たこ,
凧) festival (おまつり, お祭り) where they celebrate the birth of the first born kid in their family and districts. They also have kite battles where each district tries to bring down each other’s kites. It is fun to watch and even more fun to participate if you live in that area. If you are in Japan around May 3-5th then come to Hamamatsu to see this amazing event. There is also a night parade too.
