An update on our progress repairing the salitre in our Ajijic retirement home. Then an old story about our first trip to Guadalajara and how we came to live in a retirement home in Ajijic, Mexico. Retired life in Ajijic, Mexico on Lake Chapala. RV Life. Projects in the mountains of central Mexico, our USA travels in a 40′ Monaco motor home, or whatever else is on my mind today.

Tell us about the giant amphibian hanging on your wall. That's got to be a good story.
Interesting about why you decided to move to Mexico. 🙂
The Executioner Fly,Wasp, Bug, & Mosquito Swatter Zapper and that all I have to say about that 😉 Get one!!
You should have Magic Jack for calling the US
Very enjoyable Jerry. i really like this style of video. Take care you guys!
Wow, Lynn's assembled pressed flowers are amazing! I never thought about putting them together like that – gorgeous!!! She's an artist!
Love your story Jerry.
I love you Jerry! And your videos!
hey jerry do you have a dog ?
I love the story!
I was imagining a campfire and marshmallows on a stick. . .
The wall repairs are coming right along; who knew all that artisan ability was involved in wall repairs in Mexico?
Those pressed flowers are just another example of Lynn's talent.
I'd be interested in sometime your speaking on when you said she and you did stained glass, too!
You're welcome to give a word or two on the streets in Portland OR these days — ?
Wow You speak nice Spanish!
I love the Gator on the wall that's awesome Viva Mexico
Loved your story. Beautiful and Fun!! I Loved the pressed flowers. Lynn is amazing! 🤗 They look wonderful. Sadly, yes, the culture has had bad rearme treatment of animals. I’m glad to hear it’s getting better. 🤗👍 Juan es neatido. Arriba Juan! 😃
One of the things I miss about Mexico. It is the informality of the people who work in our house. my dad used to talk to them a lot. So sometimes it took a long time to finish something. But my dad. he always pays them extra for the moment of psychological therapy. When you hear stories or advice from them. Especially. When you find a trustworthy person. He will help you in all your future problems at home. They have a network of very talented people
Jerry, Ha I painted the night in Tuxedo with tails ,woke up the next morning and found a lady next to me . I chewed my arm off .Ended my Naval career and moved to New Jersey . LOL
Hope your kids are ok..it must be hard to be separated
Wish the retirement centres were a bit cheaper
Love that story & I was smitten with Lakeside from first glance. Its a magical place & I look forward to being back there soon. What is the name of the new shelter? I have been to The Ranch. And, I hate the circus, they should all be outlawed. Good to hear that the practice is stopping in Mx. Lynn's pressed flowers are amazing. Nice you are displaying them.
Hey, JC! Would love to hear "the rest of the story". Tell Lynn her pressed flowers are beautiful!!!! Would love to hear another little song from her whenever she is up to it! I miss seeing her in your vids…especially love it when she gets "sassy" with you! Hehehe! P.S. Really great "angry fly" faces…too funny!
Hi Jerry , l like your home , and nice looking yard l seen through the window , and thank you for sharing your adventures. Blessings .
Hi Mister JC, hope everybody in your family is doing well, greetings from California.
THAT'S A GREAT STORY JC – TELL US MORE HOW YOU ARRIVED AND STAYED IN AJIJIC FOR 20 YEARS – YOU ARE A VERY INTERESTING STORY TELLER! REGARDS TO LYNN.
So TRUE about painting to a corner. I have such a difficult time explaining this to folks.
You ever watch your JC travel stories YouTube videos?
I would love to hear you finish your story from Lynn saying since your mid-life crisis doesn't involve a blonde and a Corvette go get the RV to living in your present home…
I know probably take more than 1 video…
México is your home my friend.
Jc you are so sweet, love your videos, greetings from Mexico City 😘
23:59 – That put a lot of circuses under, and subsequently, that put a lot of Mexicans out of work. Too bad.
Lynn's flowers are beautiful! El Tigre Mountains? Are there tiger's there?
The alligator on the wall? Is there a story about that?
It seems like your recollection of the ending of the business in Portland sounds a lot smoother and more pleasant than the way I remembered from the older video's. Hope you're still planning on telling us what kind of business you had sometime. Seems like you can do so many things that it's hard to make a good guess. I guess it was all part of the path that led you where you are now. I don't think you would be enjoying yourself as much if you were still living there now! Still the exact quote from Lynn on the South Wind, word for word 🙂 I hope the kids aren't too close to the riots.
I notice you're losing your touch on the fly catching! Not only stopped counting them but not saving them either! Could it be that all the local burger joints got wise to you by now? 🙂
Any info about those who are a bit under this 2020 Mexico income requirement requirement for residency?
“An average monthly income (after taxes) of at least 300 days of the Mexican minimum wage: 300 X $123.22 = $36,966 pesos, or about $1,945 USD*.”
Love your stories , always looking forward to see a new one , don't forget to finish the one about your trip in the motor home ,
Thank you Jerry for your story! My wife and myself 56 right now, it still early to retire, but it’s dose not stop us to talk about moving to Mexico. Country we love ❤️💙💚
I once heard you say that we build our homes with termite food. Yet there are thousands of houses, made of wood, here in the U.S. that those termites haven't touched for over a hundred years. Your house looks like an ongoing project. Most of us are not going to want to keep rebuilding our homes over and over like you do. We don't want to have to bag our poop paper to take out and burn. We don't want to be stranded a thousand miles from medical emergency help. And we love living in the U.S.A. We love Mexico. But its no UTOPIA. THERE'S NO PLACE ON EARTH LIKE God's U.S.A.!!!
cool
Love the video. flowers are always nice to save in this way! Good work on the walls!! 😛
I always enjoy watching your videos amigo, and I have salitre problems too 🙁
Hi Jerry and Lynn…!
Sorry I haven’t been in touch
for awhile.
I took a sabbatical from the internet for awhile…
I’ve missed your stories and adventures…!
I really like the colors in your home…!
I see that Lynn is still working her magical talents…!
The pressed flowers look amazing…!
I’m happy to hear that you are sharing the stories of
your beginnings with us.
I always get a good chuckle out of them.
Happy to see that the two of you are still doing well…!
Stay safe and healthy.
Have a great day and be blessed.
Interesting family differences… I can't picture my kids ever opting to bring their friends on our family vacation. Or us ever even offering that as an option. And now we just can't bring ourselves to move to Latin America like we were planning because we've got six grandkids here who we often visit. We're still hoping to ride around Mexico someday but even that's in question.
I found your place on Google Earth, by the way. Saludos!
Jerry, I am a gringa retiree living in Mexico. Can you tell me if you and Lynn received your stimulus check in the mail? How long did you have to wait for it to arrive? Mine still has not come, so I was wondering if this delay might be true of all US retirees living in Mexico. Or if I need to report possible loss.
I don't know what the problem was with the corvette and the blond since Lynn is blond. You were half way there. Lol
My sister does animal rescue, mostly pitbulls, in Wichita, Kansas. They do not have a no kill policy there.
Aparantly, most expat communities, like the Brits in Spain, just do not mingle with the locals nor do they learn the language. Good on you for learning Spanish at least.
You're lucky you are not in Portland right now. It doesn't sound good there.
Seems everything you did back then turned out for the best considering where you are now and what you have there.
Enjoy!
Hey Jerry!
Cooool good luck..
Thanks for doing these videos. We are obsessed with moving to the Ajijic/Chapala area. 🙂 That's a lot of wall work!
Hi, Jerry, I have been enjoying your videos so much ever since I bumped into it the end of 2019 after I came back from a trip to Ajijic. My plan is to make the final move by the end of 2021. Any, I watched a recent episode just now about hot water heater…. I grew up in East Asia where people use On-Demand gas water heater. It works on either natural gas or propane tank. It is really the wonderful device, small in size and never worry about running out of hot water.
Nice video thanks for sharing. I’m new YouTuber here
wow, this is amazing
On the salitre repair:
Salitre repair
1. Dig out the soft stuff, then scrap it. Vacuum
2. Paint it with Finsalitre from hardware store
3. Replaster with concrete mixed with latex sealer,
4. Scrapped to smooth it
5. Paint with flat white latex paint with latex sealer (called fondo)
6. Then the colored paint
Is that correct?
