On days 13 and 14 of our Hokkaido Road Trip, my host family picked me up from the station that I rendezvoused with them at after my solo trip in Sapporo (check out that video here!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0pNLs10k3Q).
From there, we made a quick pit stop in a nearby town then checked in at our hotel for the night.
The next day, we headed to Asahiyama Zoo, one of Hokkaido’s biggest zoos. With a myriad of exhibitions, from giraffes, to hippos, to birds, to pandas, the zoo had a large selection of various animals, mostly hailing from colder parts of the world. The coolest thing about the zoo (no pun intended :D) was the ability to get up close and personal (from a safe distance of course) with the magnificent creatures.
After making a quick stop at a roadside stop for lunch, we headed down south to Biei, stopping at Zerubu Hill to take in the beautiful sights in the late afternoon. We drove one round on the ATV ride through the flower fields, got some ice cream, and then drove further south to Furano to check in at the onsen hotel we booked for the night.
