My experience with Halloween in Japan (one of the most strange) involving the tradition of a “Test of Courage”, or Kimodameshi. This is when people enter a scary place, (dark forest, school haunted house, or abandoned house), to celebrate a time of the year in which the more mysterious things in life are given more thought. I did this in a group, and alone. It’s a bit more personal than some of my other videos, focusing my time abroad as a student in Japan, but the facts are here too. I hope you enjoy.
