There are certain smaller Shinkansen Stations in Japan that the Nozomi Super Express does not stop at. For those stations, there are middle tracks, similar to the express lane on a highway, where the Nozomi Shinkansen does not have to slow down much or stop at. At these Shinkansen Stations, like this one in Shizuoka, the Nozomi flies by at speeds over 200 kilometers per hour and the express tracks are only about 10-15 meters away from the boarding platform. You can literally feel the resounding vibration and blur as the blowback of the wind wisps through your hair, and of course, you can feel the power and speed of the Shinkansen!
