After reconsideration, I decided to buy a flat and live in Singapore.

In the last video, I told you I was actually reconsidering living in Singapore because it seemed like Japan had cheaper houses. Plus, Japan has nice food and beautiful nature. But in the end, I chose Singapore over Japan. In this video, I compared Japan and Singapore’s working culture, safety, cost of living, people & society, tax and education.

But you'll miss the cooler weather in japan. Here its horrible 25-34c all year
Thanks for giving a real insight of Singapore living.
Simgapore good
political stability is also can consider into safety factor. You don't invest or buy in the end forced to sell loss result policies changed especially happened in race supremacy countries
Totally loved your videos, Ghib Ojisan. I'm into digital marketing as well n I'd like to work with you n learn more from you. 🤗
I can show you the houses in Bukit Panjang as well, if you're interested n I can show you the good foods about the place too. 😊

essentially he was saying that in singapore it is less stressful because we dun observe manners and social etiquette … lmao… but loved your video
Japan have many natural disasters. One of the reasons in the past they started the world war 2 in Asia to get better land and colony.
I moved to Singapore to study and work myself and adore Japan as a travel destination, but it's interesting to hear your perspective as a Japanese living in Singapore! The only part that doesnt really work out right now is that we're stuck in a tiny island and are not able to travel 🙁
Ghib san, one aspect you have not taken into consideration is the medical cost in Singapore.
Any true blue born and breed Singapore citizen, who has admitted to hospital for operation, can tell you their experience in the cost, waiting time and etc. There is a vast difference between a private and subsidies patient in Singapore. And don't fooled by the Medisave, Medishield, Eldershield, etc,
You realise due to the infirmation war … Any index is probably fake news.
Safety vs Authoritarianism …. It s a risl benefit analysis …. Not long til Singapore becomes a China.
Try moving a bit north …. Of Singapore … You get floods and Monsoons …
We have trees falling randomly 😬
Stay in yishun so we can meet bro… would like to meet you up in person. 91426033 . This is my number and whatsapp. My name is Ken.
It is better not to have a kid in Singapore…you will have to support him or her for at least half a million dollars till they reach 21. Not worth it.
I hate the fate that buying a hdb is only 99 years of leasing and that we dont actually own the flat even after it is fully paid…Singapore Government is sucking our blood…
when you see a person buy "Chicken rice tea", you know someone's in love with a caricature of a country… Singaporeans will never drink 'chicken rice tea'!
can't decide whether your vids are "10 reasons why i (japanese) am a cop-out" or…
11;12 "so life in singapore can be tough but if you're hardworking and capable, you will be rewarded". funniest and more fallacious comment ever about singapore.
12:36 – "no wonder the rich move to singapore". sadly that's true; the singapore government would rather have more foreigners come to singapore while paying lower taxes – income and corporate – and as a result, the singaporean would have to 'offset' this burden for example: pay more out of their pocket for their own healthcare (just look at the upcoming GST jack-up).
Thank you Ghib-san for sharing your video.
You're right that Iceland is the safest Country in the world, while S'pore & Japan are 7th & 9th respectively. But if you look at which are the safest Cites in the world, then Tokyo, S'pore & Osaka are always in the top 3 (they tend to rotate among themselves).

Finally, with regards to Education in S'pore, I think maybe you might have looked at the primary & secondary schools fees that were for S'porean citizen kids. There is a 3-tier system where the school fees for SPRs (S'pore Permanent Residents) & Foreigners are higher by several times. I could not find the latest figures for 2020 but below is an article I got from March 2019 article. As for those kids in nursery/kindergarten, if you as a parent are a Citizen (& maybe a bit for PR too), you can also get govt subsidies to lessen these school fees. So schools for a foreign kid (e.g. Japanese citizen kids) might not be as cheap as you had presented.

I had never been to Jpn except transit at the narita airport. If you gonna organised any tour trip to Jpn let me know…I would like to join.
Ghib, i get you about natural disasters. Here in the USA, we have so many natural disasters. Hurricanes, earthquakes can be bad. We also have one of the scarest things on earth….TORNADOES. Here in Calif, anyday we are expecting another SF type earthquake that happened in 1906 That type of earthquake will cause billion of dollars in damage plus loss of thousands of lives. You prat they won't happen, but will.. Can't predict mother nature..
I m a Singaporean living in us pls make a video : US vs Spore . I will love to tell you about New Yorker life style n cost of living .
But enrichment course is expensive lololololol
Great video!
In Singapore, school fees are cheap because parents have to pay for transport and food. In Japan, food is provided for by a token sum of money as school lunch. Textbooks are free in Japan. Parents pay for textbooks in Singapore every year and that is costly. School trips are all done in Singapore. School trips in Japan are everywhere.
In Japan, all children gets about $150 singapore dollars for each Japanese child till they are 18 years old. Not in Singapore. Cost of delivering a child is practically 7 times cheaper than Singapore. In Japan, it is about $1000 singapore dollars. In Singapore, that is a whopping $6000 to $7000 including GST to deliver a child. Pay 17% of salary into Singapore is a form of tax as that money in the CPF cannot be released without incurring an accrued interest i.e., you pay interest on your own CPF ordinary account. That`s a form of tax. No need to tax the foreigners as Singaporeans are paying for it through their CPFs. Cars are 10 times more expensive in Singapore, tobacco. You don`t own your HDB flat as you noted. The government owns it? In Japan, you guys can own your house for the price of a HDB flat. Not all parts of Japan have natural disasters, some areas are more prone than others. Your kids will have a break of at least 2.5 years if they get into university. University is not easy to get in. Education in Singapore is rote learning with examinations and test every other month. Most Singaporeans obtain below average scores for English Language in their high school education and the majority of students do not study advanced English language as junior colleges is not for all the student population. And English literature is not encouraged in most Singapore secondary schools as an upper secondary subject. So, there is really not much quality language education. Take a look at Jim Rogers discovery of this. English is an asset but many Singaporeans speak bad English. In fact, your spoken English is better than most Singaporeans in the suburbs. Just my thoughts. Have lived in both countries. Singapore is only accessible to southeast Asian, not exactly to Australia or other parts of the world. After you`re done with Thailand, Vietnam and parts of Indonesia and Malaysia, what else? Note, it is not easy to take leave to go on holidays in Singapore as long holidays are not well thought off. So these southeast Asian trips with always be short trips of not more than 5 days. However, you are right, it is easier to access leave compared to Japan. Japan needs more improvement in this aspect. However, Japan has 7 more public holidays than Singapore which is why Singaporeans need to access their leave more. There get a 13th month bonus because they work 4 weeks more than the world OECD world hours average. 1 month of haze is more deadly than 2 months of hay fever due to pollen allergy but you have 4 seasons compared to Singapore`s climate which is similar to Ethiopia`s climate. That means, you`d be sweating if you`re outside for more than 7 minutes? Trains are definitely less crowded than Tokyo but the population density in Singapore is the 2nd highest in the world. It is chronically overcrowded, there are often people around most times and that means malls are crowded all the times including trains. You can find a seat outside rush hour time in Tokyo but in Singapore, this is increasingly not possible because of the high population density which continues to increase. It has not yet peaked. Tokyoites can return to quite suburbs with some nature, you can`t do that in Singapore. Even the suburbs have a background noise, something you don`t get in Tokyo except during cicada seasons in the summer. Summers are shorter and less hotter than Singapore. You can`t easily get a seat when you go out with a family as it`s crowded to the extent the locals reserved non-reserved seats with tissue papers. That`s how overcrowded the island state is.
Best of luck in your new place! Also, Japanese food is expensive in Singapore for a restaurant meal. Restaurants meals in Japan are cheaper than Singapore. A family of 4 eating at an Italian family restaurant in Japan cost $48 Sing dollars including tax. In Singapore, that will be at least $100. Hawker food are slowly increasing in price as when I was last there, they wanted to increase sales tax to 9& and eventually 10%. Having said that, I love the diverse hawker food there too. They don`t have a crazy drinking after work culture like in Japan where salary men return drunk or sleep in on weekends or drink at home after work. Alcohol is very abusive in Japan because it`s cheap and this is a bad aspect of working in Japan when I was there.
5:13 "why ahh" damn you're becoming a singaporean
cHickEn riCe teA?
It’s probably good for neoliberal globalists like you lol. For citizens who were born in a poverty or have ordinary skill set, living in Singapore is like hell. It’s a country that values multinational globalist corporates and workers over their citizens, which is perfectly fine since there are “rich skilled immigrants” like you who are willing to live in Singapore, meanwhile the poor citizens are forced to leave the country due to not being able to live in their own country. Most citizens aren’t even allowed to protest against the dictatorship regime, which again, you keep ignoring it in your videos.
There are also reports that over 20% of the population in Singapore are living under the monthly wage of 100000 yen, which is insane considering the living standards there (but again, they are not permitted to protest).
There are certainly “positive” aspect (like all countries), especially for neoliberal globalists like yourself, but you’re obviously ignoring the negative aspect of it, which is HUGE. This corona pandemic have already affected this globalist economy, and is already showing negative effect in Singapore as well, which realize heavily on foreign multinational corporates and findings by being a tax haven.
There is a reason why Singapore is called “a light hearted North Korea” or “Disneyland with a death penalty”.
you say it all right . but my japanese wife think otherwise and bring the kids back to japan to start a new life there . can you say she is stupid? she likes japan and the kids need to follow her . insightful?!
i hope you reply
Thanks Indonesia for the haze 😑😑
I didn't realize that I've already visited Japan 10 times, and seen its different prefectures and regions at diff times. and seasons. I really enjoyed it over the western countries because of its unique culture and sceneries. But at the end of the day , it's always Singapore waiting for me. I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to see and appreciate other countries too.
日本は5%からだぞ。1000万円でも控除あるから700万円以上手元に残りますね。
The way I see is more and more people like Ghib will seek how to emigrate to Singapore when U have enough fortune especially if U are Asian like Korean, Japanese and Chinese. Before the pandemic, the West was the destination for career and international study, however the pandemic exposed how the society of West is actually corrupted also dirty enough as the virus could be spread easily due to lack of wearing mask practice and low hygiene. There are serious hate crime against Asian and constant civil unrest too.
If Ur parents can pay enough, Singapore will be the best place to learn something.
Of course interns of working, Singapore is the best place. Low crime rate, low corruption level, highly developed public transport, , fast internet, etc etc…..
Even u can't choose Singapore, we have Taiwan and Philippines for cheap tuition and low price level.
今まで欧米だったけどこれから目がある人はアジアか東欧だろうな。
I always thought about living in Japan but after watching this video I’ll stick to Singapore XD the work life thing sounds insane !
Singapore does have their strengths and flaws like all countries. As a Singaporean having the privilege to study and live in Australia for better part of my twenties, there are many things we take for granted. Sure, wages in some sectors need to be better, but in exchange, the incremental costs will need to be offset against consumers ultimately. We may not have four seasons to enjoy, but the consistent climate is something that we are assured. Staying in public housing is not necessary an ownership of the property, but it allows the housing to be redeveloped when the lease is up, a 99 year old building may not exactly be safe to stay in. It may be 'boring' to stay after a while, but our geographical location allow us to travel regionally for a quick getaway and yet come back to our nest at the end of the day.
Did you know that singapore can also feel earthquake in some areas? Haha, it is true.
It is very low "feel" at, if i remember, around north eastern or eastern region, had a small scare from Indonesia earthquake. western region didn't feel it due to more solid bedrock foundation.
Do checkup on the websites regarding singapore earthquake stuff. Singapore government does recognized that some region in singapore is slightly affected.
Take note that singapore has hot spring in sembawang. No onsen though, do find it out.
国の国土や経済規模が違うので一概に比較はできないと思う。。。インフラコストや社会保障の質も違うでしょう
Singapore HDB and Condo are well maintained, the garden around are well taken care and clean.
japanese seems to like Southeast Asia a lot,we welcome y'all~

The magnitude of a "Nankai Trough Earthquake" is expected to be up to 9 (magnitude 7 and 9 are 1000 times different in power).
In any case, there is no doubt that it is a huge earthquake.🥹
I love singapore. It has mastered the art of face-saving strategies and hiding the truth.
