The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Flag and Paralympic Flag Tour began October 2016 and, over a three-year period, they were taken through Japan’s 47 prefectures ahead of the Summer Games. On Saturday, they arrived at Tokyo Station for a special event that featured the pop group Tokio, who are special ambassadors to promote the 2020 Games, passing the flags to Tokyo Gov. Yuriko Koike. “The flags made it to the goal, but we start here,” Koike said. We need to keep creating momentum for the events and devote ourselves to preparation.” Additionally, demonstrations of taekwando, which has been an Olympics sport since 2000, were given and included an appearance by Olympic freestyle wrestling medalist Saori Yoshida.

On the same day, at the Tokyo Stock Exchange, a BMX demo event promoted the cycle sport. The BMX freestyle competition will be making its Olympic debut at the 2020 Summer Games. (📷: Ryusei Takahashi @ryuseitakahashi217)
