It’s that time of year when Japan takes on a pink hue as cherry trees blossom across Japan. The weeping cherry, known as “shidarezakura” in Japanese, tend to bloom earlier than the more common “somei-yoshino,” which will probably hit their peak this weekend. One of the more scenic spots to view the majesty of weeping cherry trees is in the classically landscaped garden Rikugien in Bunkyo Ward’s Tokyo. (Satoko Kawasaki photos).
