🇲🇽 CULIACÁN, SINALOA, Mexico – Welcome! In this 2021 Mexico Travel video, we’re once again in northern Mexico! Culiacán in Sinaloa is one of Mexico’s best travel destinations, despite the negative press it receives due to Mexican drug cartels. The food is amazing! Is this Japan?

That’s right! Is it anything like authentic Japanese sushi? You’re about to find out that Mexican food can often have a mind of its own! If you’re looking for activities for your next Mexico trip, there are plenty of things to do in Culiacán! Culiacán is not what you think!

If you’re thinking about moving to Mexico or becoming one of the increasing number of expats in Mexico, your choices aren’t limited to popular areas like Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende, Cancun or Puerto Vallarta. You might even be looking for off the beaten track Mexico. You might ask the questions, “Is Mexico Safe?” or, “Is Mexico dangerous. Sinaloa is a state that, granted, you’ll need to be able to speak Spanish in, but the city and state has so much to offer, just as much as those other places!

  1. Just a couple of points before you comment – in reference to all Sinaloa videos there were places I couldn't film at and things I couldn't talk about to comply with YouTube's monetisation policy (I was lucky with Jesus Malverde). I've had videos demonetised (meaning I cannot run ads and earn an income) and blocked worldwide in the past for this reason (in Colombia, Vietnam, South Korea) so I am often purposely indirect in what I say, for example – "every city has varying degrees of wealth or affluence" – in reality what I'm saying is "these areas may be wealthy due to cartel activity". I am not allowed to imply things like that directly. It's also aimed at those people who may think Culiacan is full of poverty and violence, not Mexicans who are experts on the subject.

As usual please remember that filming is not like regular sight-seeing. It takes up to 3x longer and I have a full-time job meaning I cannot do every single thing there is to do in one video. Also remember just because something is not shown in the video, doesn't mean I didn't do it! Gracias LOL

  4. The Botanical Garden, probably the most beautiful and interesting man-made part of Culiacán. It is quite interesting that you took the time to enjoy the sunset in Culiacán, which is normally pretty beautiful in the summer.

  5. Just stumbled upon your videos and I'll be following, but I just gotta tell you that those tacos that you stumbled upon are some of the best hard tacos and gorditas, You completely ate those the wrong way and you cheated yourself of the true taste of the tacos. Cheers

  6. You should check the James Turrell art at the botanical garden in Culiacán, “encounter”

  7. Also a great spot to watch the sunset in Culiacán is in “La Lomita” u should try it sometime ! Nice video

  8. I saw an interview with the owner of that Sushi place you went to- the name is actually the family name, they are Mexicans of Japanese descent. The son continues the family tradition.

So technically, it is ‘traditional’ Japanese food with a Mexican twist. 🇯🇵 🇲🇽

  9. Thank you so much for posting a video of a walk in the city after dark. I met a young lady who teaches primaria in Culiacan while playing beach volleyball in Mazatlan. She said she wouldn't walk at night there but it's much safer during the day. Some times these inside tips are wrong though. I love to walk at night in Mexico because it's not so hot and sweaty. I think my favourite night walk is the malecon in Mazatlan, it's such a great workout and you get a great breeze off the ocean. Whatever you do, don't walk at night in Tepito (in CDMX). Fine during the day, but at night there's a very good chance of being mugged as well as an outside chance you'd be a victim of an 'express kidnapping'.

  10. Oh no, lettuce off xD lol the best part of Mexican food. It is actually healthy, cuz we use lots of the vegetables

  11. Hola amigo, te escribo desde Rusia a través de un intérprete, por favor dime cómo puedo ponerme en contacto contigo

  12. Thank you for your videos. My parents are from Sinaloa. When you have an opportunity, visit Mocorito…it's a pueblo magico. There are so many.

  13. All these towns and cities are dead in afternoon and start to live at night because of the heat.
