One of the 3 mountains of Dewa in the city of Tsuruoka is called “Mount Haguro”. When you walk around Haguro, you will come across a five storied pagoda, with a height of 29 metres! It was constructed during the Heian Period (794 -1185) and then rebuilt in 1372. The original and natural colour of the wood still remains and is called Shirakizukuri. Interestingly, no nails were used to build this pagoda. Don’t miss the chance to see it covered with snow this season!
