The Izu peninsula is a large mountainous peninsula with deeply indented coasts to the west of Tokyo on the Pacific coast of the island of Honshū, Japan. Formerly known as Izu Province, Izu peninsula is now a part of Shizuoka Prefecture. The peninsula has an area of 1,421.24 km2 and its estimated population in 2005 was 473,942 people. The populated areas primarily lie on the north and east. Izu Peninsula is filled with beautiful views, many beaches, Mt.Fuji, and a calm/relaxing living area.

Mount Fuji, located on the island of Honshū, is the highest mountain in Japan, standing 3,776.24 m. It is the second-highest volcano located on an island in Asia, and seventh-highest peak of an island on Earth. Mount Fuji is an active stratovolcano that last erupted from 1707 to 1708. The mountain stands about 100 km southwest of Tokyo and is visible from there on clear days. Mount Fuji’s exceptionally symmetrical cone, which is snow-capped for about five months of the year, is commonly used as a cultural icon of Japan and it is frequently depicted in art and photography, as well as visited by sightseers and climbers. Mt.Fuji is located in Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park.
