❤️ Live a life of less junk, more journey with our community: http://teamjourney.com
We take a nearly 24′ class C motorhome along California State Route 1. The Big Sur segment of Highway 1 hugs the coastline with twists, turns, and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean including Bixby Creek Bridge.

It’s Car-Mel. It’s the home of Clint Eastwood. He was the mayor at one time. I took the Amtrak from LA to Salinas with a loaded bicycle then rode to coast to Newport Beach. Big Sur is a very beautiful part of the world!
Only if you have nerves of steel.
For me the answer is no.
Gorgeous, but scary looking down. I love seals and lighthouses.
Lov that roller coaster. It's been 'condemned since i was a kid, late 70's, 80's….and i think thats part of the thrill:). Mi mom loves the taffy.(edit) Car-mel 🙂
Always lov your posts! Spank-you berry much 🙂
Bin the music !
I live a little ways from HWY 1 in Northern Cal and this is making me get that itch to go drive 1 and see the beach. I haven't been to some of these camp areas since I was a kid. Really enjoyed this. I hope you can share some of the Point Reyes footage it's one of my favorite areas.
We vacation every summer in Big Sur and tow our 33 foot 5th wheel right up that beautiful coast. We probably just missed you all but when we left on Saturday it was windy on the coast which made the drive gorgeous since it kept the clouds and fog away! Hope you guys didn’t get poison oak in the state park…
Don't believe we will drive the 1 with our 5th wheel. Maybe stay east a bit and drive in.
As a Carmel native I'm loling 🙂 It is pronounced Car-Mel no 'a' in the middle. Not to worry though a lot of people have trouble with it. The Big Sur campgrounds were a staple as a kid for vacation and the swimming holes were awesome. If you get back through here check out Carmel Beach (amazing sand, dog friendly) and Point Lobos for some cool hikes!
NO!!!
The last time I was on the 17 mile drive it cost my dad a whole .50 cents for the whole car! I guess it was awhile ago!
Been there, didn’t like it! One time we came across an accident where a car went over the side! What a mess!
It’s Car Mel, emphases in the Mel!
Have you guys made a map of your own travels yet?
Those cakes looked good. The scenery was breathtaking. The drive looked breathtaking. What a beautiful place to be is in California. Where the sun is warm. And the ocean is great to be able to see. The roller coaster looked like fun.
That campground looked nice and nice it had a river you can go swim at. I’m glad you were on the side you were on because the cliffs and the water looked beautiful. Everything was breathtaking. Thank you Nathan and Marissa!
Not any worse than the Million Dollar Highway…Right??
We will be staying at San Francisco RV Park next spring! It looks a lot better than we were expecting!!! Thanks for sharing!!
So wonderful…love you guys!!!😘
So glad you were able to get a spot at Seacliff and not even one of the lottery spots. True beach camping is so wonderful. Wish we had been home (Santa Cruz native, we met in Yosemite) to have you over for dinner, but we were on our way to the Dakotas. Safe travels!
Wow, great video guys!
Did you guys get a different rig?
Hi All, Thank you for your wonderful video! We camped at the Big Sur private campground b/c one whole loop was closed at Big Sur, and the others had no water. The campground owner had to guide us to our spot on the Big Sur river, w/ a grand redwood right outside our camper door. I think we used a crowbar to get out of the campground when we left, tightest campsites we had ever seen. We went to the beach where the keyhole is and went swimming, and everybody looked at us as though we were nutso. Was it cold, sure, had we driven all of the way from Texas – yes. We are at the Pacific, we're going in!! Yes, Bixby bridge has been in a LOT of movies, car commercials and probably other commercials. Safe Journeys!
We've got 4 nights reserved at Hearst-San Simeon State Park in a few months. The last time we were stopped at Lucia, a rider and his lady came in on an immaculate Honda first year Honda 750 4. Haven't seen one in years. they were having a blast.
