【4K】Yokohama Walking Tour – Asaina Kiridoshi (Ancient Road to Kamakura)

This 4k Ultra HD video was recorded in July 2022 at the Asaina Kiridoshi leading to Kamakura.

【History of Asaina Kiridoshi】
Asaina Kiridoshi is one of the seven “Kamakura Nanakuchi,” or seven passes leading to Kamakura, which is surrounded by mountains and the sea, and is considered the steepest of the seven passes. The term “kiritoshi” refers to the portion of a pass that has been cut down to make a road, or to the road that includes such a portion. Construction of Asaina Kiridoshi began in 1241 during the Kamakura period (1185-1333) to cut away the rocks of the pass. On the opposite side of the cut-through from Kamakura, the Yokohama City side, there was a good natural port called “Mutsura-no-tsu” at that time, and the Hojo clan, the regent of the time, used it as an outer port of Kamakura. The Asaina Kiridoshi, which connected Kamakura and Mutsuura, became an important transportation route.
In 1969, it was designated as a National Historic Site because it is one of the ” Kamakura Nanakuchi ” and is an important remnant that shows the geographical features of Kamakura and the state of communication with the outside world. In 2008, a group of yagura (medieval bone storage facilities) around the kiridoshi and Kumano Shrine, the guardian deity of Kamakura, were additionally designated as historic sites as part of the kiridoshi.

This guided walking tour will start from Asaina Kiridoshi on the Yokohama side and end at Kamakura Station via Kumano Shrine, a total length of about 6 km. In the latter half of the tour, we will stop at Kamakura Hachimangu and a stylish and delicious cafe in Kamakura.

  1. Whenever I've visited Tokyo for sightseeing, I've made my first or consecutive two stays(if possible) in Yokohama to make my friends fall in love with Yokohama.

For me, who loves Yokohama, this channel is like a jewel.
I'm also worried about the stores I liked whether survived the Corona period or not.

As a Korean, I can't wait to go back again after the visa issue will be resolved.
Thank you very much for your videos!
