Sushi chef Kimiya Kazuki and his older brother and Nihon Ryori chef Kimiya Kazunari have created a unique dining experience at their restaurant Meizan Kimiya. Blending two styles of Japanese cuisine with wine and sake pairing, their offering is unlike anywhere else in Japan.

Kagoshima’s most exclusive restaurant (at the time of shooting Saturdays were booked until 2024), Meizan Kimiya was also featured in the Forbes “Top 10 Coolest Places to Eat” in 2020 and is gaining a strong reputation as one of the upcoming restaurants to watch.

Join us for a chat with Kimiya Kazuki on his thoughts about the Meizan Kimiya style and something you should NEVER do in a high end Japanese restaurant.

  1. Thank you for another opportunity to learn about Kagoshima! It is fast becoming one of my favorite places. I can understand why they are booked into 2023 with the level of care that they take with their food and the customer experience. It is amazing to see.

    Take care!

  2. Darn, just another place to visit in Japan⁉️❣️ 😅 But virtually no tables unless a year in advance rules me out. But glad to hear they have guaranteed business!…

  3. Some people are telling us they aren't getting notified when we upload new videos. Make sure you're both subscribed AND you hit the bell icon. No bell icon, no notification sadly. -Mitch

  4. I'm guessing you don't get much change out of a fiver for a piece, but worth every penny. I laughed hard when he said, with such a straight face, about people eating the sponge thing. I did initially think to my self that it looked cool and I wonder what it was, and what it would taste like. But it's just to moisten your fingers! A definite Gaijin trap 🙂
Another skilful insight. Thanks Kago team.

  5. Wait, did he say Miyazaki? That's not in Kagoshima. All I remember about Miyazaki is that most everything was closed on Monday and I had Chicken Namban.

No fair showing me a restaurant I want to go to and then telling me the next open reservation is in two years. Fun video, though!
