On March 19, 2010, Disney debuted a painted version of one of their Walt Disney World monorails in promotion of their upcoming film “Tron: Legacy.” The “tronorail,” as it has been unofficially dubbed, is currently making its way around the Epcot track, which runs between the Epcot theme park and the Transportation and Ticket Center.

“Tron: Legacy” will come to theaters in Dec. 2010.

  1. I like it! Can't wait for the movie.

I don't see it as too much advertising. In this case the image works with the monorail. Now if they had plastered Miley Cyrus all over the trains to promote Hannah Montana, then I would have to yell NAY!

  2. Very nice! I hope the film lives up to its potential – I want a Light Cycle ride!

  3. The red train (at the end of the video) needs to be repainted.

They'll probably do that when they paint the TRONorail trains are painted back to their original colors.

  4. @916chipndale= It could be worse. At least there's not an inflatable Recognizer floating above Cinderella's Castle. Yet.

  5. As for the comment on WDW doing a Toy Story 3 Monorail – They still can because keep in mind , they do have a total of 12 monorail trains . And from what I also have heard , Yes , We got our new Mark VII's here in Anaheim , You folks in Lake Buena Vista are due for your NEW Monorails real soon !

  6. If you think tron will be a good movie. You're stupid. Everyone is going to see it for the visual effects. Anyway one of my favourite parts of disneyworld was the monorail. It's too bad with their millions of dollars they can't extend it further and improve the park a little more. Disneyland wasn't the same without it except it is much smaller so walking is not an issue.

  7. wow it looks coollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

  8. On our last trip, we were mostly entertained by the potential for the "tronorail" pun. We came up with that ourselves before we realized others had made that connection.

  9. I rode it…it's not "painted"…it's wrapped. I suspect to see more of these, as Disney moves more to using parks to reflect current media.

It was, however, fantastically cool…I have several shot of it as well.

  10. @TotalDramaCourtney Not suprising, wrapping destroys the finish on the original paint job. So, they have two options…wrap it again, or strip it all off and repaint. Cheaper to keep it running. Though, glad it's still around, I look forward to seeing it this year.

  11. actually, Disney bought Marvel Entertainment so, they have the authority to have the "Avenerail" cause they're gonna be making money off of the movie.

  13. Nothing special here except the movie itself. If it was me I would build a tron arena and get professional motorbikers to make a cool show.
