Major IT and electronics conglomerate Fujitsu Ltd. is one of the companies that made a dramatic shift to telecommuting during the pandemic, but it is now wondering whether in-person work may be better when it comes to launching new innovative business projects. Fujitsu unveiled bold reforms to its working plan in July 2020. The blueprint included slashing its physical office space by half in less than three years and making remote work the norm, while transforming offices into places for communication between employees and clients. But now that remote work has become the new normal for Fujitsu, the firm is actually grappling with a fresh challenge and is is leaning toward the view that when striving to hammer out new ideas, gathering face to face and having lively discussions might work better.
