Many traditional events are held in Japan to welcome the New Year, and the New Year’s Lantern Festival, called ‘Shinnen Manto Sai’, at Himeji Gokoku Shrine is a spectacular one!

Starting at midnight on New Year’s Day every year and lasting for ten days, around 2,000 lanterns illuminate the shrine precincts to welcome worshipers and visitors and light the approach to the shrine ⛩️🏮

Have you experienced any beautiful New Year’s traditions like this one in Japan?
