What in the world are these statues doing wearing knitted hats? 🧶🎎
Daishoin Temple sits perched on Mt. Misen—the tallest mountain on Itsukushima Island in Hiroshima Prefecture. It is an expansive temple with more than a few statues lining the pathways. Most of the statues at this temple can be found wearing quite warm-looking knitted hats. With so many statues, it must take a long time and a lot of work to keep such clean hats on all of them! The temple’s followers are likely busy year-round knitting colorful hats. It certainly makes the temple feel warm and inviting!
