Descend down into the only awamori cave in existence, where the potent Okinawan distilled alcohol is aged. Kin Town’s limestone caves happen to have the ideal conditions for maturing awamori, and they are also used to store tofuyo, an Okinawan fermented tofu delicacy. This Okinawa tour also includes a tour of an awamori distillery that’s housed in a renovated U.S. military aircraft hangar. You’ll also get to meet Asamu Toyokawa, whose entrepreneurial mother had the idea to use the limestone caves as a place to mature awamori, creating an attraction in the town that was once only known for its U.S. military presence. The tour also includes a tofuyo tasting and a lunch that highlights other Okinawan specialties.
