Sendai is the capital of Miyagi Prefecture, and the largest city in the Tohoku region. The area is home to some fascinating historical sites, the annual Tanabata festival in summer, and several interesting local foods including zunda (crushed edamame) and gyutan (grilled cow’s tongue). The city also receives approximately 28 days of snowfall each year. ❄
