Now here’s a story that’s spud-tacular! Any guesses how Hoshiimo Shrine in Ibaraki Prefecture got its name and unique gold torii gates? With Ibaraki Prefecture holding the honorary title as the country’s largest dried sweet potato producer, it only seemed fitting to name this shrine exactly that (hoshiimo means ‘dried sweet potato’)! 🍠 And the gold torii gates? Well, they’re the same colour as the prefecture’s beloved sweet potato.
