Fancy a tipple? Niigata Prefecture has your name on it. Boasting more sake breweries than any other prefecture in the country (just shy of 90), it’s here where you’ll get a true taste – literally – of some of the best sake to hit the shelves.

Established in 1767, Imayo Tsukasa is a great place to start. Tour the well-preserved brewery as you learn about the sake-making process, rich history of the local area and of course, whet the palate with some tastings. Kanpai! (For those still working on their Japanese, that’s ‘bottoms up’ for you.) 🍶😆

📍 Imayo Tsukasa is the closest brewery to Niigata Station and can be reached on foot in just 15 minutes.
