After taking the Triumph Bonneville T120 moto camping in Snowdonia last month, I realised I hadn’t really seen that much of the North Wales coast; time for a return visit.
Starting at the Ponderosa cafe, I rode my way through the Snowdonia National Park to Llandudno, particularly so I could ride the toll road around the Great Orme. The one way road wraps itself around the perimeter of the stoney outcropping, offering a short alpine route up to the summit and back down, it’s honestly like a tiny slice of the Amalfi Coast and it’s brilliant.
After an ice cream on the pier, I headed along the coastal road to Tallacre with it’s wonderful broad, deserted beaches and picturesque lighthouse. Then it’s just a short hop over to see the Duke of Lancaster shipwreck, sitting forlorn in its dry harbour rotting away while local councillors seem to sabotage any efforts made to rescue the ship or to put it to good use. It’s a great sight, but it does always leave me feeling a little sad to see it gradually decay more each time I visit.
