Hundreds gathered in front of the Israeli Embassy in Tokyo on May 21 to protest the bombardment of the Gaza Strip and the historical subjugation of Palestinians in Israel, Gaza and the West Bank. Hours before they gathered, news erupted that Israel and Hamas had agreed to a ceasefire. While the truce has stalled the conflict, critics say it’s only a temporary solution. “This is what happens every time,” an organizer said. “People are killed — mostly Palestinians — they reach a truce, then it happens all over again a few years later. Why did all those children have to die? What is the point of all this bloodshed?” 📸 Ryusei Takahashi (@ryuseitakahashi217)
