Niigata, Toyama, Nagano and Yamanashi will be on Sakura TV 6pm Australia & 8pm NZ from 1 May. We are starting regular scheduled Channel KYOTO program as a trial to become an independent TV channel.
This mini program will show you everything about Kyoto from tourism, food, tea, traditional performance, craft, shopping and business.
Niigata is on the west coast of Japan’s Honshu Island, bordering the sea and including Sado Island. World famous for its ski resorts, national parks and many onsen (hot springs), is noted for its seafood as well as its massive aquarium, Marinepia Nihonkai.
Toyama is a coastal city next to Niigata, Toyama Castle Park has a restored castle dating to the 1500s. The nearby Toyama Glass Art Museum displays striking contemporary works. On the Fugan Canal, Kansui Park has views of the distant Tateyama Alpine mountains.
Nagano, is home to 7th-century Zenkō-ji temple, with a “hidden Buddha” statue whose replica is shown publicly once every 6 or 7 years. Its 16th-century Omine Castle is now a butterfly museum. The Togakushi district has ancient Togakushi Shrine and weapons at Togakushi Ninja Museum.
Yamanashi is the southwest of Tokyo on the island of Honshu. It encompasses the northern part of Mount Fuji, where hundreds of thousands of visitors climb to the summit every year. In the Fuji Five Lakes area, resort towns surround the lakes created by the iconic mountain’s eruption. The region is renowned for hiking, climbing, fishing and skiing.
