MIYATA Hasahi was just five-years-old when that fateful day happened in Nagasaki. After embarking on a career in electronics manufacturing in Los Angeles, California, he return to his parents’ hometown in Nagasaki Prefecture to honour the survivors of the A-bomb and to promote a ‘world without nuclear weapons’.

✅ Olympic Stadium designer at home in Nagasaki 🏟️

Architect KUMA Kengo, who designed the Olympic Stadium, has a special connection to Nagasaki City, having designed the Nagasaki Prefectural Art Museum and Garden Terrace Nagasaki (a hotel). It is also the birthplace of his family – Kuma.

✅ Satomi carries Olympic flame to bring peace 🕊️

Japanese actress ISHIHARA Satomi, one of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay ambassadors, begun the Olympic flame’s journey through the historical Nagasaki City from Peace Park.

✅ Japanese mission to Tang 🌊

Torchbearer KOYABASHI Mitsuyoshi boarded the Japanese mission to Tang China – known as kentoshi in Japanese – which was used by Japan to learn about the Chinese culture between the 7th and 9th century – one of the most brilliant epochs in Chinese history.
