My friend from college lives in Fukui, Japan. A few years back he bought a house for $15,000 USD (approx. ¥1,500,000). The video posts ¥15,000,000, but it is in face ¥1,500,000 (150万)

I spent a few days learning more about his life and what it’s like to live in this really cool house, located next door to an ancient shrine, at the foot of a mountain, with a talking bird, in a place most tourists never venture.

Life in Japan can be a lot of fun, but can also be challenging. Ralph is a fellow San Diegan that has made a life in Japan.

He ran a cafe a few years back that I wish I had the opportunity to visit, hopefully he can do something like that again soon. Eating his home cooking was like being back in America!

Come for the old house, stay for the shenanigans!

I post food, places and unique things about Japan on social media. Follow any of these if you would like to see more great Japanese things.
