That irresistible crunch of perfectly cooked tempura! 🍤😍 One of the country’s most popular dishes, the Japanese have turned deep frying into an art form. Tempura often consists of seasonal veggies and/or seafood coated in a delicate and crispy batter. Best eaten immediately after it’s cooked, when done well, it’s surprisingly light and far from greasy!
🍤 There are various ways to enjoy eating tempura – the traditional way is with a sprinkle of salt or a soy-based dipping sauce called tentsuyu. A small mound of freshly grated white radish is often added to the sauce before dipping the tempura.
🍤 Other versions include tendon (pictured), where the freshly cooked tempura is served on top of steamed rice and drizzled with a soy-based sauce. There’s also tempura udon, tempura soba and tempura sushi… Importantly, all are delicious! 😋
