TRAIN TRIP in JAPAN | PortLiner | World’s First Unmanned Railway | DRIVERLESS TRAIN | Kobe City

Debuted in 1981, ポートライナー is actually the first AGT in Japan and in the world (The second is VAL System in France, the first in Europe, which started in 1983). It originally ran to nine stations, about 6.4 kms, in a loop from Sannomiya to Port Island. However, in 2006, three more stations were added (4.3 kms) to cater passengers going to and from the #KobeAirport. The Portliner has used at least three vehicle models since 1981. The first was the Kobe New Transit 8000 series with 12 units, each unit having 6 cars, from 1981 to 2006. From 2006 to present, it used the Kobe New Transit 2000 series with 17 units, each unit having 6 cars. The third type, the Kobe New Transit 2020 series, was introduced in 2016.
