These traditional style inns are a great way to experience Japanese traditions and culture. Rooms generally have tatami mats with futon bedding to sleep on, and many ryokan boast onsen hot springs or encourage Japanese style bathing. Most also offer a multi-course kaiseki dinners and traditional Japanese breakfasts.
