Have you heard of Tsuruoka City in Yamagata Prefecture? 🤩 Off the beaten path, Tsuruoka is a popular gateway to reach Dewa Sanzan — the 3 sacred mountains of Mt. Haguro, Mt. Gassan and Mt. Yudono that represent (life, death and rebirth, respectively). The most accessible, Mt. Haguro, is home to a five-story pagoda listed as a National Treasure (pictured) and a forest with 600-year-old cedar trees! As a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, Tsuruoka is also home to a unique and diverse food culture with over 50 registered heirloom crops and award-winning sake breweries. Hands up if you’d like to go here! 🙋 📷 Wonderfully captured by @co.co93 #VisitJapanAU #Tradition
