Japan does not have vast deserts, but it does have a famous dune area. Tottori Sand Dunes, in Tottori Prefecture, are the largest of their kind in Japan. As well as creating beautiful shapes from wind-blown sand, the Dunes offer a great view of the Sea of Japan. The area offers many fun activities: sandboarding, yoga, an art museum with art pieces made of sand, to name a few.
