Umeda Sky Building is a twin building connected by a ‘Floating Garden’ on the 39th, 40th and the roof top floor. There are 2 suspended escalators for public access to the 39th floor that will give a nightmare to those with fears of height. Umeda Sky Building was planned in 1988 as part of the ‘City of Air’ project. It was initially planned as four towers connected to each other but the economic crisis in the 1980’s has led to the decision of reducing the number of towers to just two towers. The construction completed in 1993. Toshiba Corp was originally the owner of the building but in July 2008, they sold 65% of their stake to other company and maintained their 35% of ownership to Umeda Sky Building.
