It’s a collection of famous scenes of the celebration parade held every year on February 11, National Foundation Day.
Each shrine celebrates the National Foundation Day with the Kigen-sai Festival (National Foundation Festival).

On the day of the event, 7000 participants, 15 portable shrines, 1 float, 2 drums and 1 musical accompaniment group marched on Omotesando in grand style.

Every year on February 11, National Foundation Day, “celebration of the founding of Japan” the “celebration parade” runs from Jingu Gaien Ginkgo Namiki Dori in Tokyo through Harajuku Omotesando to Omae in front of Meiji Jingu.
With the cooperation of the All Japan Drum Band Foam Baton Association and the Tokyo Metropolitan University Symphonic Band Association, the parade features a large number of participants, consisting of more than 6000 people in total, including drum and fife bands, color guards, brass bands, cheerleading, and the brave mikoshi togyo.
The main parade party, which held a departure ceremony at Jingu Gaien Icho Namiki Dori, marched along Aoyama Dori, joined the portable shrine party at Omotesando, and proceeded to Omae of Meiji Shrine.
In front of Meiji Jingu, tamagushi is offered, the singing of the national anthem and performances by participating groups are offered.
In addition, a marching contest “Kenkoku Memorial The Marching Contest in Omotesando” by a university brass band from the Tokyo metropolitan area is also held in a certain section of Omotesando.
Last year (2019), 11 universities competed with each other for their achievements, and Kokugakuin University was ranked No. 1 (grand prize) and Tokai University was ranked No. 2 (Performance Award).
The results of the contest will be announced in front of the Meiji Shrine Hall, and the winner will perform in the central ceremony of the Meiji Shrine Hall.

Place: Harajuku around Omotesando (Gaien Icho Namiki – Aoyama-dori Street – Omotesando – Meiji-jingu Shrine)
