Royal Melbourne Zoo 4K – Japanese Gardens Australia – Melbourne Christmas 2019

The Japanese garden was built in 1990, to mark the tenth anniversary of the sister-state relationship between Victoria and the Aichi Prefecture in Japan. This garden (and an Australian garden in Nagoya, the capital of Aichi) were created to symbolise the strong friendship between the two states and to reflect the natural beauty of their respective landscapes.

Shiro Nakane, the Kyoto landscape architect, designed the site and supervised the construction process. While stone forms the bones of this garden, the plant selection provides interest during all seasons, though the sequence of cherry blossoms in spring is supposed to be of particular note.

We are a not-for-profit conservation organisation dedicated to fighting wildlife extinction. We do this through breeding and recovery programs for threatened species and by working with visitors and supporters to reduce threats facing endangered wildlife.
