Accra, April 29, GNA – A delegation from the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry is representing Ghana at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan.
The team is promoting trade and investment opportunities to strengthen bilateral relations.
The six-month event, which opened on April 13, 2025, features over 150 countries and 50 international organisations.
It is the theme: “Designing Future Society for Our Lives: Saving Lives, Connecting Lives, and Empowering Lives.”
Ghana’s pavilion showcases its cultural heritage and national progress in trade, education, health, and Information Communication Technology (ICT).
An average of 500 to 1,000 visitors have toured the Ghana pavilion daily since the opening.
Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Mr Sampson Ahi, also Commissioner General for Ghana at the Expo, led the delegation alongside Ghana’s Ambassador to Japan, Mrs. Genevieve Edna Akpaloo.
Ghana is focusing on trade, education, ICT, and agriculture to attract investment.
Attractions at the pavilion include cocoa and chocolate products, tourism displays, educational content, and local handicrafts such as beads, Kente cloth, and Bolga basket bags.
Visitors have been actively engaging with the cultural exhibits, including photo sessions with Kente and beads.
Ghana has also received coverage on Japan’s NTV and Osaka’s ABC News.
The national theme is “A Country of Possibilities and Empowerment.”
Exhibition content spans six sectors: ICT, education and manpower, health, trade and investment, tourism, and Japanese development assistance to Ghana.
On the sidelines, Mr. Ahi met with Mr. Mochizuki Hisanobu, former Head of Mission and Japanese Ambassador to Ghana.
They discussed Ghana-Japan cooperation in trade, diplomacy, and development.
Mr. Ahi said Ghana was showcasing its economic transformation agenda to empower youth and create opportunities in key sectors.
He acknowledged the support received from the trade Expo’s Country Manager and called for continued collaboration.
The Deputy Minister also thanked the Government of Japan and the Expo organisers for their invitation and support.
A Ghana Business and Investment Forum is scheduled for September 11, 2025, under the sub-theme “Empowering Lives” and the national theme “Creating a Country of Possibilities.”
