Visitors are barely visible as mist is sprayed in the Inochi Park area at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai venue in Osaka’s Konohana Ward in this recent photo. Water, sprayed every 15 minutes for about three minutes, is intended to be both a fun experience and a way to combat the heat. But some people who have experienced the mist say that visibility can drop to nearly zero, for several seconds depending on the wind, raising safety concerns. While there is an announcement before every session, children take off running and adults begin eagerly taking photos once the mist starts. A security guard expressed concern, saying, “An accident could happen at any moment.” A visitor from Kyoto’s Nakagyo Ward explained that while the mist feels cool and refreshing, “small children may bump into other people if their hands aren’t being held.”
