Peddapalli (Telangana) , Apr 21 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Home Affairs and BJP leader Bandi Sanjay Kumar criticised Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for embarking on a foreign tour to Japan while farmers in the state are grappling with crop damage caused by untimely rains and hailstorms.
He questioned the Chief Minister’s priorities and urged him to at least direct his Ministers to extend support to the distressed farmers.
Speaking to the media in Peddapalli, where he was attending a private event along with former MLA Gujjula Ramakrishna Reddy, district President Sanjeeva Reddy, and local BJP leaders, Bandi Sanjay also launched a scathing attack on the Congress and Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) parties over the Waqf Bill and alleged irregularities in Waqf property management.
He claimed that the public meeting organized in Darussalam against the Waqf Bill was a Congress-sponsored event, accusing the ruling party of funding the program. “All the big thieves who looted Waqf properties gathered there and are now targeting the BJP,” he alleged. “
Bandi Sanjay further said that the BJP, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is working to uplift marginalized communities. He hailed Dr B R Ambedkar as a visionary and claimed Modi is the true successor of Ambedkar’s ideals. “Modi is turning over 1.25 lakh Dalits into entrepreneurs each year. Unlike AIMIM leaders, he has worked to empower the oppressed,” he stated.
Citing a Central Waqf Council (CWC) report, he said there are over 8 lakh acres of Waqf properties in India worth more than Rs 10 lakh crore.
He alleged that more than half of these properties have been encroached upon by those operating under the guise of the Waqf Board. “Properties of temples, gurdwaras, and even freedom fighters have been wrongly claimed as Waqf lands. In Tamil Nadu alone, properties worth Rs 2,000 crore have been encroached upon,” he said.
He claimed that in Telangana, 77,000 acres of Waqf land exist, of which 80 per cent has been seized by what he called the “Waqf mafia,” including the Owaisi family and Waqf Board members. “Hospitals, schools, and businesses worth crores have been built on these lands. Yet, not a single yard has benefited the poor Muslim community,” he added.
Bandi Sanjay demanded a white paper on the total extent, income, and usage of Waqf properties and questioned whether any of that income is being used for the welfare of poor Muslims. He challenged the state government to launch a full-fledged investigation into these allegations.
Returning to the issue of farmers, he criticised the government’s continued apathy. “When crops were damaged during the previous regime, farmers didn’t receive compensation. Now again, they suffer while the CM travels abroad. This is unacceptable,” he said, urging immediate relief measures.
