Built in 1914, this Neo-Renaissance train station is one of the oldest in Japan, beautifully restored and standing as a cultural heritage site of Kitakyushu. Its retro charm makes it a favorite for film, art, and slow travel lovers.

🚶 Kanmon Pedestrian Tunnel (関門トンネル人道)
A hidden gem, this 780-meter tunnel runs beneath the Kanmon Strait, allowing you to walk from the island of Kyushu to Honshu *under the sea*. Markers on the floor even show the border between the two islands.

🍣 Karato Area (唐戸市場, 下関市)
Across the strait lies Karato Market in Shimonoseki, famous for its fresh seafood, harbor views, and cultural ties to Japan’s maritime past.
