Hyderabad: AIG Hospitals Chairman Dr D. Nageshwar Reddy was presented with the ‘Legends of Endoscopy’ award by Japanese gastroenterologists in recognition of his lifetime contribution to the advancement of gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy.

The award was presented by Dr Haruhiro Inoue, professor and chairman, Digestive Diseases Centre, Showa University Koto Toyosu Hospital, Tokyo, in the presence of Dr Shinji Tanaka, president, Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society and Professor Emeritus, Hiroshima University.

The felicitation took place during the Tokyo Live Global Endoscopy event, hosted at SHOWA Medical University, where Dr Reddy performed live demonstration of complex endoscopic procedures. He showcased the use of cutting-edge techniques to manage difficult biliary and pancreatic stones and shared insights into evolving tools and technologies that can enhance safety and precision in such complex GI endoscopy procedures.

Dr Haruhiro Inoue said, “Dr Nageshwar Reddy has truly evolutionised endoscopic practice globally. His innovations, especially the Nagi stent, have saved countless lives and brought relief to patients in the most challenging clinical scenarios. His work bridges clinical excellence with global need for accessible healthcare, a rare and invaluable combination in modern medicine.”
