Filipino-American actor and comedian Jo Koy praised the cabin crew of Philippine Airlines (PAL) Flight PR102 after the aircraft made an emergency landing at Haneda Airport in Tokyo, Japan.
Jo Koy, who was traveling with his family from Manila to Los Angeles on the evening of 9 April, took to Instagram the following day to commend the professionalism of the flight attendants during the mid-air emergency.
“I’m gonna say this — the flight attendants on Philippine Airlines were amazing,” he said in a video posted on his Instagram story. “Above and beyond, you guys were pros.”
He also thanked the crew for staying composed and effectively guiding passengers through the tense situation.
“Thank you for remaining calm in a situation that could’ve gone south, fast,” he added.
The comedian, known for his hit Netflix stand-up specials, assured fans that he and his family were safe as they awaited a replacement flight to the United States.
Earlier, PAL confirmed that Flight PR102 was diverted to Haneda after smoke was detected inside the cabin.
The airline traced the source to one of the plane’s air-conditioning units and confirmed that all passengers were safe, with no major damage to the aircraft.
