Muscat – With Expo 2025 Osaka opening on Sunday, April 13 Omani students in Japan are taking on a central role in promoting Oman’s cultural identity, tourism appeal and investment potential through the sultanate’s national pavilion.

Speaking to Oman News Agency, students studying in Japanese universities described their participation as an opportunity to represent the sultanate on the global stage and engage directly with international audiences.

Khalid bin Ahmed al Ajmi, a student at University of Tokyo, called the expo “a golden opportunity” to showcase Oman’s deep-rooted heritage and its message of peace and tolerance. “We are proud to be part of this cultural representation that reflects the bright image of Oman,” he said.

Ajmi noted the importance of Oman’s strategic participation, describing the pavilion as a space to highlight national values, introduce visitors to Omani history and traditions, and communicate the country’s readiness to welcome global investment. “This event helps us deepen our own understanding of national identity while also presenting Oman to the world in a modern, engaging way,” he added.

Munther bin Ahmed al Maamari from Waseda University highlighted the value of the expo in consolidating Oman’s international presence. “Omanis have historically been ambassadors of peace and culture. This is a continuation of that role.”

Maamari added that the event will allow students to build professional and academic connections while introducing Oman’s culture, industries and potential to a wider audience.

Aisha bint Hamoud al Hashimi, also from Waseda University, said the pavilion presents an ideal platform to familiarise Japanese businesses and the public with Oman’s traditions and economic potential. “It’s a valuable opportunity for us to build connections and gain new experiences while introducing our country and culture to the world.”

According to Fadwa al Rawahi from Hiroshima University, the expo will serve as a strategic platform to promote Oman’s investment landscape and heritage. “This global event will allow us to interact with diverse cultures, develop communication skills and strengthen national pride.”

The students appreciated the support and encouragement of H H Sayyid Theyazin to fulfil their role and affirmed their commitment to represent Oman with pride.

The sultanate’s participation in Expo 2025 Osaka aligns with its broader efforts under Oman Vision 2040 to diversify the economy, promote cultural diplomacy and engage youth in national development.
