Max Verstappen Showcases Honda 0 SUV Prototype in Tokyo
Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen recently took Honda’s futuristic electric SUV for a spin during the Red Bull Showrun event held in Tokyo. The vehicle — a Honda 0 SUV prototype — was driven between thrilling F1 performances in the heart of Aoyama’s business district, offering a quiet break from the usual roar of race cars.
Honda teamed up with Red Bull Racing to present this exclusive drive as part of their farewell celebration before their partnership officially ends after the 2025 F1 season. The 0 SUV was one of the few calm moments in the high-speed event.
The First Look in Motion
Unveiled earlier this year at CES 2025, this marks the first time the Honda 0 SUV has been seen driving in public. Wrapped in eye-catching purple camo, the mid-size SUV glided smoothly along the closed streets, showcasing a stark contrast to the screaming hybrid engines around it.
Max Verstappen and teammate Yuki Tsunoda appeared relaxed in the electric prototype, sipping Red Bull and smiling for the crowd. Verstappen handled the drive while Tsunoda prepared for his home Grand Prix later that week.
A Glimpse at Honda’s Future
The 0 SUV is part of Honda’s upcoming 0 Series of electric vehicles, which also includes a wedge-shaped 0 Saloon, expected to arrive by late 2026. Both vehicles will be manufactured at Honda’s EV Hub in Marysville, Ohio.
Though Honda has kept specific performance details under wraps, the SUV is expected to include Level 3 autonomous driving capabilities and run on Honda’s next-gen ASIMO OS. This points toward a smart, user-friendly driving experience, combining clean energy with future-ready features.
